Fringe Activity

Today, I decided to take my daily walk early, at around 09:30. Strolling through North Laine, the first thing I noticed was a very long queue. I realised they were all waiting in-line outside a coffee bar. The queue had become so long that people were waiting on the pavement. Hmm, I thought, must be really good coffee they serve there. As I continued walking, I noticed groups, intermittently gathered on the road, building kites in various shapes, including one shaped like a dragon. Then I saw a second cafĂ© with a queue so long it seeped outside, onto the pavement. Then it hit me; it's May, Brighton Fringe, this must be for a parade (I learnt later that it was, indeed, for a parade). And art activities require lots of caffeine, do they not? Living in Brighton effectively all my life, I should be used to this creativity around me, but I am still surprised, still impressed, at the energy and enthusiasm everytime May rolls around and it’s Brighton Fringe.
